Fayetteville, N.C. – The Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County is excited to
introduce its latest Southeastern Artist in Residence, Hannah Krieger. Hannah was selected out of a competitive pool of applicants and began her residency in mid January. The SEAR initiative provides visual artists of exceptional artistic merit the opportunity to lean into their craft through dedicated studio time, space and a small stipend to complete a new body of work at the Arts Council.
Hannah is a cartoonist and illustrator whose clients include Harper Alley, Choose Your Own
Adventure, and KaBOOM! Studios. She was born and raised in Fayetteville, and received her art education from UNC School of the Arts ('08-'10) as well as NYC School of Visual Arts ('10-'14).
“As a freelancer, I'm often collaborating with and amplifying the ideas of clients, but this
residency will grant me the opportunity to fully explore my own voice,” expresses Krieger. “I'm also looking forward to meeting folks who stop by the studio space, and getting to share the comic-making process with others!”
“As an illustrator, Hannah is used to creating stories through her art, and we’re excited that the SEAR program will now be a part of her own story." Sarah Busman, Director of Community Engagement.
In addition to her new series of works, Hannah will lead arts education activities that will be free to the public.
