Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County And Tarheel Quilters Guild Present Joined by Stitching: A Quilter’s Art

Colorful quilt art with figures playing instruments, vibrant green and orange hues, set against musical notes. Energetic, joyful vibe.

Fayetteville, NC - The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, in partnership with the Tarheel Quilters Guild, is proud to announce the opening of Joined by Stitching: A Quilter's Art, a curated exhibition celebrating the innovation and craftsmanship of contemporary textile art. The exhibition will run from April 10th through May 10th at The Arts Center, located at 301 Hay Street.

Joined by Stitching brings visitors into a world where fabric becomes language and stitching becomes story. This exhibition showcases quilted works that range from bold abstraction to intimate narrative, as well as work that highlight more functional design. Each piece reflects how modern artists are pushing the boundaries of tradition to create something vividly personal and alive.

Started in 1981, the Tarheel Quilters Guild is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of quilting. With over 100 members, the Guild provides education and resources for anyone interested in the advancement of textile arts. Membership is open to anyone age 10 or older.

“Fiber arts - quilting in particular - are often categorized as either traditional crafts or contemporary arts, " says Irene Grimes, a member of the Quilters Guild and one of the exhibit curators. “What excites me about this exhibit is that it bridges both worlds; many of the pieces are utilitarian while also expressing strong ideas and perspectives.”

Joined by Stitching is made possible in part by the North Carolina Arts Council, City of Fayetteville, and Cumberland County.
