Workshop:Songwriting with Intention
We will use a concept called “song prompts” to aid in writing a song. Song prompts provide parameters and guidance to assist in writing and completing songs in a timely fashion. Prompts may be distinguishing musical/lyrical characteristics, lyrical themes, chord progressions, sets of striking words to use within the song, etc. What do you want to write about? What do you want the listener to feel or get out of the song?

Workshop:The Songwriting Session
Our goal for this workshop will be to write a chorus/main theme and an outline for a song. Students may work on their own, or in collaborations of up to 3 people. This would be determined before the session to save time. Questions we ask in the beginning: What do I/we want to write about? How do I/we want the listener to feel when they hear my/our song? This frames the session and keep us on task.
