Megan Kenny

Megan Kenny, violinist, has extensive experience teaching string students through private lessons, chamber music coachings, master classes, and directing chamber orchestras. In addition to maintaining a private studio, she has held teaching positions at the University of North Carolina Pembroke and Campbell University and is a faculty member of the Red Lodge Music Festival. She ​​is an active orchestral and chamber musician and has performed with many top-tier conductors and ensembles. Megan is currently Associate Concertmaster of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and holds degrees in violin performance from the Yale School of Music and University of Notre Dame. 

  • Workshop:Violin Masterclass

    This violin masterclass is offered on any of the following topics: Tone Production Intonation Vibrato Development and Technique Advanced Bow Techniques Changing Positions and Playing in Higher Positions Posture and Balance in Playing Practicing Efficiently and Effectively Performance Techniques and Strategies for Managing Performance Anxiety The level of material presented will be tailored to the ability level of participating students and in consultation with the orchestra director. Students will receive personalized feedback and learn practical exercises to improve their technique.

    Duration: 45-50 minutes

    Grade Level: Middle School, High School

    Maximum Number of Students: 30 students

    Maximum Number of Performances: 2

  • Workshop:Orchestral Violin Sectional

    This workshop is designed to elevate the sectional playing of orchestral violinists. Elements of intonation, rhythm, articulation, and ensemble will be addressed. Participants will also learn how to successfully perform as a sectional violinist, the differences between performing as an individual versus a section member, and the role of a section leader. The music worked on in sectionals will be determined in consultation with the orchestra director.

    Duration: 45-50 minutes
