Living Rhythms
Greg Ince is a drummer, educator, and cultural artist with more than 30 years of experience teaching African drumming and dance in schools across the United States. Raised in Brooklyn by his Cuban father and Panamanian mother, Greg studied with renowned West African master drummers and has performed with artists and ensembles including Alvin Ailey and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Dakarai Ince has been immersed in West African drumming and dance since childhood, performing and teaching across the U.S. through workshops, residencies, and cultural programs that inspire students through music, movement, and cultural connection.
There is no minimum number of contracted performances or workshops required. However, for programs requiring extended travel or overnight stays, we prefer scheduling a full day of programming when possible.

With nonstop audience participation, the entire student body becomes a part of the music and dance, while learning about West African history and sharpening their abilities with respect, communication and teamwork.

Workshop:Living Rhythms (pK-12)
Put a drum in your students' hands and teach them to dance! A drum is provided for each student to use. Participants learn music and songs that represent the folklore traditions of several different African ethnics groups. Students leant the dances that historically accompany the musical selections. Students get a first-hand experience of how the values of listening, teamwork, and respect directly contribute to our success - both artistically and personally.

Performance and Hands-on Workshop
An exhilarating 45–60 minute “Edu-Tainment” assembly performance kicks off the day with high audience participation throughout the show and a surprise grand finale. No audience size limit. Students then participate in hands-on African drumming and dance workshops, learning traditional West African rhythms and accompanying dances. Workshops include 30 drums for student use, accommodate one class at a time (approx. 25 students), are 40–60 minutes long, and require 10 minutes between classes and 40 minutes for lunch.

Multi-Day Residency: Hands-On Workshops + Culminating Student Performance
Two to ten days of hands-on African drumming and dance workshops with a drum provided for each student. Students learn traditional West African rhythms and accompanying dances. Workshops include 30 drums for student use, are typically 40–60 minutes long, and accommodate one class at a time (approx. 30 students). Please allow 10 minutes between workshops and 40 minutes for lunch. Residency concludes with an exciting student performance for families and the community. Minimum of 3 sessions plus rehearsal required.
