Dancing Drum
Dancing Drum’s mission is to EDUCATE, ENTERTAIN, and INSPIRE students of all ages through high-energy, interactive drumming assemblies and workshops. For the last 22 years, Dancing Drum has been leading drumming programs in hundreds of schools all across the country. Steve Campbell is the Musical Director and Teaching Artist of Dancing Drum. We offer several program themes for schools including multi-cultural awareness and character education. Drumming is not only about making music, it’s also a medium through which students can work together to build school community, learn to focus in a dynamic environment, and enjoy an energetic and productive outlet for creative self-expression.
Minimum number of performances and/or workshops required for travel or hire:
If we will be in the Cumberland County area on the requested date, we can book an Interactive Performance Assembly or School Drum Day program at one school. If we will not be in the Cumberland County area on the requested date, we will need to have a minumum of 2 days of Interactive Performance Assemblies or School Drum Day programs at 2, 3 or 4 schools. Assembly Performance: Interactive Performance
Dancing Drum’s Interactive Performance Assemblies are high-energy programs that engage, entertain and inspire your entire school! From the first moments of a Dancing Drum assembly, students play and sing along with clapping, body percussion and vocal chants. Next, groups of 100 student volunteers come up to play drums and percussion instruments throughout the show. Schools can choose a world music or character education focus for their assemblies. Join in the rhythm and bring this uplifting, community-building musical experience to your school!
Duration: 45-50 minutes
Grade Levels: Pre-K, Elementary, Middle School
Maximum Number of Students: 400 Students
Maximum Number of Performances Per Day: 2 back-to-back assemblies are offered at each school.
Requirements: Dancing Drum provides all of the drums, instruments and sound system.

Workshop: School Drum Day
Dancing Drum’s School Drum Day program gives students at a school the opportunity to play 6 different types of drums and percussion instruments! Students take part in 6 drumming workshop scheduled throughout the school day and experience the thrill of making music together with their classmates as they move through the different instrument sections. Each drumming workshop features exciting rhythms, vocal chants, musical games and teamwork activities designed to keep students engaged, learning, and having a blast! Schools can choose a world music or character education focus for this program.
Duration: 6 drumming workshops are scheduled during the school day. Each workshop is 45-50 minutes in length.
Grade Levels: Pre-K, Elementary, Middle School
Maximum Number of Students: We can accommodate workshop groups of up to 160 students.
Maximum Number of Performances Per Day: School Drum Day is a full day program for 1 school.
Requirements: Dancing Drum will provide all the drums, instruments and sound system for the program.
