Fayetteville, NC - The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County has received a $12,000 grant to support Arts Resources for Elders (ARE), an initiative that brings multidisciplinary teaching artists into local senior centers for interactive, hands-on arts experiences. This award represents the first payment of a four-year $34,050 grant from the Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment Fund for Seniors of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc.

Arts Resources for Elders is designed to expand access to high-quality arts engagement for older adults through participatory programs led by professional teaching artists. Activities may include visual art, movement, music, storytelling, and other creative disciplines tailored to meet seniors where they are—supporting connection, curiosity, and creative expression in community settings.

“This investment helps us meet elders in the places they already gather and belong,” said Bob Pinson, President & CEO of the Arts Council. “With this support, we can place teaching artists directly into senior centers for meaningful, interactive programming that strengthens wellbeing and builds community through the arts.”

The Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County connects our communities, embraces diversity, promotes individual creativity, fosters lifelong learning, and advances tourism and economic development through the arts.
