Charles Pettee, (pronounced “Petty”), has delighted audiences with a tasty blend of original and traditional music seasoned at more than 5,500 performances throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. He is a founding member of the world-traveling Shady Grove Band, and has already completed his thirteenth full length CD/album. Assembly Performance: Catch the Bluegrass Bug (PK-2) / Bluegrass Stomp (3-12) Bluegrass music is a true American art form! Whether live performance, or live virtual, kids will laugh, clap, and sing with a variety of traditional songs, as well as enjoy hearing the banjo, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica! Grade Levels K-12 Maximums 600 Students, 50 minutes, 3/day Special Populations Technical Requirements Live: Artist provides sound equipment. 1 1/2 hour set-up time prior to first presentation Virtual: School provides the meeting link of their preference Total Fee 1 live performance - $605 / 2 performances (same day and same school) - $968; New! virtual programs - $220 each School Portion 1 performance- $303 / 2 performances (same day and same school)- $396; New! virtual programs - $110 each Residency: "Digging for the Roots of Bluegrass Music" (2-5) With classroom sessions full of clapping and singing, plus a different "focus instrument" for each day, students will learn about different types of folk music, the influences of historic and modern cultures, the science of sound, and even write their own folk song (5-day residency only), in Mr Pettee’s three to five day residency “Hear the Sound: Digging for the Roots of Bluegrass.” Grade Levels 2-5 Maximums 50, 50 minutes, 5/day Special Populations Visually impaired Technical Requirements Small table in classroom or library for the musical instruments, and a white board or chalk board. Total Fee $450 per day School Portion $150 per day Workshop: Charles Pettee (K-12) Mr. Pettee will gladly come to any classroom either before or after an assembly performance to go deeper with program content, sing together, and let the students share thoughts while experiencing the instruments up close.
