Sharifa Johnson
Sharifa Johnson is a passionate educator with over 18 years of experience teaching pre-K through college-aged children. She has earned a dual B.S. degree in Secondary Education and English and a dual M.A. in English and African American Literature from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Ms. Johnson has trained in dance for over 30 years in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and African dance.

Workshop:Books N' Bops
Books N’ Bops is a creative movement class for children that incorporates literature and dance as a valuable tool to increase fun and movement in education and learning. The program addresses the important areas of child development that include self-expression and learning to identify and communicate their own learning style and interests. The areas addressed in the Books N’ Bops program are the PIECES (Physical, Intrigue, Education, Creativity, Emotional, So much FUN!) that help develop children into mature, productive citizens.
Duration: 45-50 minutes

NC Essential Standards: RF.K.1 Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. a. Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. b. Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
