Holiday Shopping and the Arts
in the Spirit of Dickens
Elevate your holiday shopping even further-support your favorite Downtown business or restaurant!
With the health restrictions of COVID-19 preventing normal event activities, the Arts Council, the Cool Spring Downtown District and the Downtown Alliance of merchants have been working especially hard to create a more extended holiday experience in the Downtown beginning in mid-November and running until the end of December. As it has been said, “ You may not know what’s happening downtown, but you know you’ll always find something unexpected and fun.” This will especially be true on these holiday weekends and in the afternoon and evening of Friday, November 27th with “Holiday Shopping and the Arts in the Spirit of Dickens.”
If you cannot make it downtown, but don’t want to miss out on the excitement, please follow us on Facebook for the times that we will be live-streaming what’s happening in the downtown.
What to Expect:
Support local businesses by taking advantage of in the Spirit of Dickens specials! If you cannot make it downtown, The Arts Council will stream live - capturing the memorable holiday experience on our YouTube and Facebook channels!
*COVID safety practices will be enforced: wearing a mask and social distancing.
Gingerbread Community of Hope
Brought to you by the Arts Council and The Capitol Encore Academy
H&H Homes along with the Arts Council and The Capitol Encore Academy, present a Community of Hope – in the form of gingerbread! People from the community are invited to vote, throughout the week, on their favorite Gingerbread Community of Hope House! Winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive a prize of $250.
Children will enjoy a Christmas story-time provided by Museum staff and participants can take home a kid-friendly craft packet, while supplies last. An old film version of the beloved Charles Dicken’s classic holiday story brought to life will play in our museum annex, next door to the museum. In true A Dicken’s Holiday tradition, the museum will serve as the host site for Victoria Carriage Rides.
