Residencies allow students to work with a single artist or group over the course of several days, creating a consistent relationship with the same students each day.

ASSEMBLY PERFORMANCE

Teaching artist giving assembly performance.

Assemblies bring Teaching Artists to perform for a large group of students, encouraging interaction between classrooms or even throughout grade levels!

ONLINE | VIRTUAL ENGAGEMENTS

Virtual painting workshop.

Teaching Artists engage through various digital platforms to offer instructional time for schools using a digital learning environment with minimal physical interaction.

WORKSHOPS

Student learning carpentry.

Workshops may engage a single class or multiple classes in a single grade level, similar to an Artist Residency but generally shorter in duration.

The Arts Council’s Artists In Schools Program offers opportunities for Cumberland County students to learn from Teaching Artists through residencies, assembly performances, virtual/online engagements, and workshops.

"Artists in the schools allows our students to build strong connections in the Arts in a manner that promotes learning outside of the classroom. Students are able to see and learn with more depth"

                                                           -Elizabeth Cashwell Elementary (Fall 2021)

"The artists helped improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and classroom engagement in the learning process. The students loved the performance and gave our entire school a sense of normalcy during the pandemic."

                                                                                                 -EE Miller (Fall 2021)
