The summer reading program is gearing up for readers of all ages June 1 to August 15. Stop by any library branch to participate and pick up a reading record today. In addition to a paper log, there is an opportunity to participate online by registering here. The online programs allow individuals to share reading lists and review books.
Summer programs include visits from Pete the Cat and Clifford the Big Red Dog, the use of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) kits involving crafts and experiments and much more. A key goal of the summer reading programming is to maintain reading skills during the summer, and research has shown that time spent reading is effective in stopping the "summer slide."
As readers progress toward reading goals, they become eligible for prizes and (for teens and adults) drawings for gift cards. All prizes are limited to one per person, are available while supplies last and are sponsored by The Friends of the Library.
