Songs For A New World - Sweet Tea Shakespeare at the Garden

Thursday, January 25 - Saturday, January 27 | 7:30 PM

It’s about one moment: the moment before it all becomes clear….

The moment of decision: we’ve all faced it. Your head guides you one way, while your gut leads you another. How do you choose when choosing changes everything?

This is the heart of Songs For a New World, Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s first musical and first production as an independent entity. Like Hamlet, Othello, Prospero, and Juliet, the characters in Songs must make life-changing decisions in the face of an unknown future. Settings range from a Spanish ship in 1492 to the Revolutionary War to the Upper East Side to the North Pole (really), but the hopes and fears we feel in those critical moments remain constant.

It’s about love, family, parenthood, loss, and chance. It’s about celebration and mourning. It’s about claiming what is yours and knowing when to let go. It’s about one moment. Join Sweet Tea Shakespeare as we raise our voices in Songs For a New World.

Songs for a New World includes adult language.  Please be advised.
