Cultural Attractions

Fayetteville/Cumberland County is rich in arts and culture. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people enjoy performances, concerts, exhibitions and programs at some of the finest attractions in the state.

Fayetteville Dogwood Festival

Hurley, Fayetteville’s mayor, began the Dogwood Festival after proclaiming Fayetteville “The City of Dogwoods.” Over time, the festival developed into one of the top events in the southeast and provides an outlet for both local and national musicians, artists, arts and crafts vendors and serves as an educational resource for children.

Since being founded in 1994 by Lynn Pryer, the Gilbert Theater has provided quality contemporary and classical theatrical productions for our diverse community including: children, the elderly, minorities, and the economically disadvantaged while at the same time giving local and guest artists a venue to display their unique talents.
