Operating Support Grants

Operating Support Grants may be awarded to local arts agencies in Cumberland County whose programs are vital to the cultural life of the community and whose organizations have reached a size and maturity that assure their long-term viability. The purpose of Operating Support Grants is to strengthen and stabilize major arts institutions and help them to deliver high quality arts services to the citizens of Cumberland County.

2012-2013 APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE
The deadline for 2012-2013 applications is Thursday, March 15, 2012. (For the 2012-2013 guidelines, click here. For the 2012-2013 application, click here.)

How to apply for an Operating Support Grant: Read the grant guidelines before you apply.

Grant responsibilities may be greater than you expect therefore you should talk with the staff before applying in this grant category. Both experienced and first-time applicants are advised to call the Arts Council staff to discuss proposals. This should happen early in the planning process so that we can provide feedback to make your application competitive. The staff will review a draft application if you send it well in advance of the application deadline (date is noted on the FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions sheet). Consultations will also be provided to applicants by appointment.

Information requested should be complete, and typed in standard size type. Use the correct application form, do not use old forms. Provide complete and accurate information as requested on the form. Keep a copy of your application and all attachments for your records.

Assemble the application package. Note the number of copies of each document required. Please use paper clips to assemble your package. Do Not Use Staples. Use the application attachment checklist as your guide for requested attachments within each grant category.

Do not miss the deadline. All application deadlines are "received by" and not "postmarked by" deadlines.

Late applications will not be accepted. Applications received electronically will not be accepted. Application packages should be mailed to the Arts Council, PO Box 318, Fayetteville, NC 28302, or may be hand delivered to The Arts Council at 301 Hay Street.

A grants panel carefully considers all applications before making its funding decisions. Both the Executive Committee and the Arts Council Board of Trustees then review these recommendations before approval. The decision-making process is guided by evaluative criteria, which requires judgment on the part of the panelists and Board members. Award decisions are final. Amount of grant are determined based on the merit of the application.
