When you join the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, you help the community through the arts. You support lifelong learning, individual creativity, cultural preservation and economic development. Here are just three of the many ways your generous donations are put to good work in our schools, and through grants and free events:
Artists in Schools Program Inspires Lifelong Learning.
Your membership dollars are an investment that broadens our children’s education. Imagine learning about geometry through dance or experiencing other cultures through storytelling. That’s what happens when you support the Arts Council’s Artists in Schools program. Artists team up with schools to enrich and enhance the curriculum in new and engaging ways. More than 53,000 children at over 70 schools in Cumberland County and Fort Bragg benefit each year from the Arts Council’s matching grant program.
Grants Create Community Growth Opportunities.
Through your contributions to the Arts Council, grants are awarded to nonprofit agencies in Cumberland County to increase opportunities for access to arts, cultural and historical programming. In the case of the Fayetteville Art Guild’s "Discovering Art" program, participants learn more than how to paint. Your support allows at-risk youth to develop problem-solving skills, practice decision-making and demonstrate respect.
Events Preserve Our Culture.
The streets of downtown Fayetteville come alive every year with vibrant colors, while people representing many nations demonstrate their pride and heritage. That’s the spirit – and the pageantry – of the Parade of Nations during the Arts Council’s International Folk Festival. Your membership to the Arts Council supports this culture-rich experience, which includes multiple performance stages and an International Food Court. Because of you, we all have the opportunity to see, smell, taste and hear the world at this free festival!
