Music and dance. Arts and crafts. Multiple performances ... and did we mention FOOD? In this community, the world is our neighborhood and the International Folk Festival is the stage where families, neighbors and visitors celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions and cuisine that reside right here in Cumberland County.
Everybody’s favorite trip around the world…for free! This year enjoy an international street dance, Parade of Nations, live performances, authentic cuisine, arts and crafts vendors and American Indian Showcase.
Friday, Sept. 28 - Enjoy an International Street Dance from 7-9 p.m.
The energy begins with a Bon Temps Ball (Ray Ave and Hay St. Intersection) featuring Grammy award winning artist Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience. In addition to the Bon Temps Ball, folks of all ages get a taste of Fayetteville’s arts and cultural offerings throughout downtown, from artist performances to cultural food at local establishments. Inside the building, celebrate the works of contemporary American Indian artists in North Carolina and beyond.
Saturday, Sept. 29 - Parade of Nations beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 29 - Beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, one of New York’s hottest bands, takes the stage to fill the night with a salsa flair, followed by FIREWORKS, sponsored by Hale Artificier.
Saturday, Sept. 29 & Sunday, Sept. 30 - Cultural food, arts and craft vendors and performances fill Festival Park beginning at noon ntil 6 p.m.
Traveling in from out of town? The Arts Council's has partnered with Red Lion Inn & Suites, book your stay with our preferred hotel partner. https://www.redlion.com/fayetteville-cross-creek
Love your Scottish Terrier? Proud of your Turkish Angora cat? Love the diversity of animal companions? We do too, but for the safety and comfort of your animals, as well as park regulations, please leave your furry – and feathered – friends at home. This festival only allows certified service animals.
The strength of the festival is due, in large part, to the Cultural Groups who take such pride in representing their cultural heritage. Through parade participation, stage performances, arts and craft booths and participation in the International Café our neighbors welcome the entire community to experience their culture up-close.
From set-up to break down, behind the scenes and on stage, volunteers are needed throughout the festival planning and the event itself. Volunteer needs include welcoming visitors, selling drinks, assisting artists and vendors to keep everything moving safely and efficiently. Volunteer for just a few hours or help all day.
Everyone age 16 years and older is welcome (and needed!) to participate in this most exciting event! (Please note: if you are under 16 years old you may still participate, but you will need to be accompanied by an adult.)
Come be a part of the fun this year!
