Dec 17 - Intro to Oil Painting

Description

We're going to cover all of the rules of oil painting and then break them! If you've never used oils, or maybe haven't even painted, come join us. We're going to use a laid-back approach to empower you to paint with oils. No fluff, no fear, just grab the brushes and paint!

After the lecture, students will be given canvases to practice on. Canvas, paint, and brushes will be provided! Experiment with blending, underpainting, etc, and take your projects home. The best part is oil paintings can be worked on long after the class is over.

Description

Encore Kids College is an after school program hosted by The Capitol Encore Academy (TCEA). The mission of Encore Kids College, through a joint collaboration with local artists and organizations, is to provide access to the arts and creative practices for K-12 children in our community.

Registration for the Fall 2017 Encore Kids College (EKC) after school program is now open. This program is offered to all K-12 students in our community. Students do not have to attend TCEA to participate in EKC Programs.

Script to Screen

Description

Students in 9th - 12th graders with an interest in film are invited to apply for Script to Screen, a FREE film intensive course on Friday, February 16, 2018 with Mel City.  In this one-day film production intensive with noted writer, producer and director Jamel "Mel City" Thornton, students in grades 9-12 will learn theory and application in six key areas of film production.

Selected participants will also meet Tichina Arnold & Winsome Sinclair & Associates -WSA International during the True to Yourself event on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

Jan 13 & 14 - Pinterest DIY: Fitness Edition 2 Day Event

Description

It's the new year, it's time to get it together! So how do you make fitness artsy & crafty? By making your own kettlebells and painting them. This is a 2-day event.

Day One: The Big Pour

We'll be mixing and pouring cement into our kettlebell moulds and attaching handles. Since it'll take a good amount of time for the cement to dry after we mix and pour Natasha Connell of Transcend Normal is going to work us out with a 30-minute cardio session.

Day Two: Decorating & Take Home

Come in and decorate your new kettlebells! Monsters or mandalas, paint what you want.

Jan 19 - Oil Painting: Skin Tones

This month we're covering skin tones in our oil painting class. Learn how to mix unusual colors to create more realistic portraits. Learn about shadows, lighting, blending, and layering colors. Description

Teen night is back in the gallery. If you haven't been to one yet, each teen night we not only paint whatever we please, but we also watch a movie and have snacks. It's like "wine and paint" for adults, but with a twist. (Plus, this is a perfect opportunity to drop off the kiddos and get some Christmas shopping done. )

This evening we will be showing Spirited Away. We provide the paint, canvases, and snacks, you just bring yourself - and a few friends! And yes if you are a little older than a teen you too can join us!
