Experience the thunderous rhythms of the ancestral Japanese Taiko drums.
 

Taikoza: Japanese ancestral Taiko drums and colorful Japanese festival dances Taikoza introduces students to the rich festival traditions of Japan. Accompanied by thunderous 150 lb. taiko drums and Japanese bamboo flutes, students take a journey through different regions of Japan as they explore traditional folk song and dance. The students will learn about Japanese culture and its music in a fun and interactive way giving them a better understanding of the culture.

Japanese festival Taiko drums as a great tool for coordination. Learn how to play the festival Taiko drums and dances in this fun workshop. The students will learn the rudiment of Japanese taiko drumming. This is a great program to learn about this ancestral tradition that incorporates movements and rhythms. The students will also learn a short dance with the drum accompaniment. It will give them a glimpse in a different culture and bring them insight on the Japanese culture.

In the residency, the student will learn a whole dance and the music that accompanies and be able to perform for their peers.
