Susana & Timmy Abell

Silver Trout Arts

About the Artist

Both Susana and Timmy Abell have earned stellar reputations through decades of work in schools across the southeast. Susana spent seven years as one of New Jersey's most sought after teaching artists with support from Carnegie Hall and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. Timmy has been a North Carolina touring and recording artist for 35 years, presenting educational concerts and workshops in 21 states. He is a recipient of the NC Arts Council's Songwriting Fellowship. Silver Trout Arts combines Susana and Timmy's many talents to present a truly unique and compelling arts experience for their audiences.

Silver Trout concerts are diverse, interactive and filled with music and laughter. Multiple art forms, including music, storytelling, puppetry and poetry clearly demonstrate that there are So Many Ways to Share a Story. Performances include an original puppet fable (a captivating story without words, performed to live music on the hammered dulcimer), award-winning original songs accompanied by music played on 7 different instruments (including concertina, penny whistle, guitar, banjo and ukulele) and dramatic storytelling. There is even a Spanish-speaking sloth! The wide-ranging repertoire is adaptable for multiple grade levels. Programs specifically address curriculum standards from elementary (writing narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events) through middle schools (use movement, voice, and writing to communicate ideas and feelings). Most importantly, Susana and Timmy's concerts consistently inspire students' own creativity by demonstrating a range of art forms, musical instruments and avenues of self-expression.
