About the Artist

Paul “Walking Stick” Taylor, 2012 finalist for Australian of the Year is an Australian storyteller, didjeridoo player, singer & cultural ambassador.  His educational concers feature music, poetry & stories offering a unique look at European & Aboriginal culture. Paul’s recording “Coeee” has won four awards including a Parents’ Choice Gold and a National Parenting Publications Gold Award.

Elementary: Wonders Down Under, is an interactive performance presenting a look at the Aussie character, both Aboriginal and European roots, through an exciting blending of, stories, songs, dance, painting, theatre and didgeridoo, drawing comparisons in American history and culture. 

Middle and High: Paul is mentored by Aboriginal custodian Yidumduma Bill Harney and presents Bush University, featuring rock art with creation. Bush University is the Aboriginal term for the School of Nature, learning and paying attention to the plants, birds, animals, insects, the land, that are alive with story and song, teaching us to be the custodians for the natural world.

Paul Taylor has performed and taught for over 300,000 American children.  Mr. Taylor offers twelve workshops in Australian culture, music and stories and one week residencies for elementary, middle and high school.  In his newest residency, students develop a mural based on the local environment and culture. This five day residency involves painting in the Aboriginal style and the mural is developed around a local theme like wildflowers, birds or history of the students’ community.
