About the Artist

Markus Tracy holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Fine Arts. Tracy emerged as a community artist primarily working on large-scale murals, creative placemaking and urban intervention projects; which he has organized and completed throughout the United States. He is also an interdisciplinary artist, national teaching artist, and an award-winning cultural arts programmer; winning the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award in 2010. 

Collaborate with public schools and/or communities in organizing a community mural project and/or creative placemaking project. Involving students, teachers, staff, and community members will help stimulate dialogue in discussing themes. Themes are: community celebrations and/or concerns, economic and/or social issues, environmental preservation alnd sustainability, community and/or school pride. 

Create a visual interpretation of shared ideas and experiences by drawing, painting, and the use of personal photos, printed material, and spoken word. Ideas and experiences will then be compositionally arranged on blueprint paper usuing the ratio 1" to 1' grid in referencing actual project size. Once grid is complete, designing will take place; compositional arrangement will be a collective process. After design has been completed and approved, commencement of project will begin.
